Russian Deputy PM Arrives in Pakistan for Two-Day Visit

Alexei Overchuk, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, arrived in Islamabad today for a two-day visit to Pakistan.
A high-level delegation is accompanying Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk during his visit. He was greeted at the airport by officials from the Foreign Ministry and the Russian ambassador. Overchuk is scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

During his visit to the Foreign Office, he will be received by Ishaq Dar and will plant a commemorative tree. The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional issues. A joint press conference will follow with the deputy prime ministers of both Russia and Pakistan.

In related news, Minister for Communications Aleem Khan recently met with the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, to discuss mutual interests and areas of bilateral cooperation. They focused on enhancing road connectivity between Russia and Pakistan, which could significantly boost trade and cargo activities. Khan emphasized Pakistan’s desire to connect Russia through Central Asian countries to Karachi Port, promoting bilateral trade and benefiting other countries in the region. He noted that Pakistan values its trade relationship with Russia due to its regional significance.
