Pakistan’s Noman Ali has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2024, beating out South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner for the honor.
The 37-year-old left-arm orthodox bowler played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s thrilling 2-1 Test series victory over England on home soil. Noman’s exceptional performances throughout the series saw him claim 20 wickets at an impressive average of 13.85, securing Pakistan’s first home Test series win since 2021.
“It’s a great honor to be named ICC Men’s Player of the Month,” Noman said. “I’m incredibly thankful to my teammates who supported me throughout this historic home Test series win against England. These victories are always special for both the team and the nation.”
Noman’s standout performances included two exceptional outings in October. In the second Test, he posted career-best figures of 8/46 while defending a 297-run target, dismantling England’s batting lineup and ensuring Pakistan’s victory. In the third Test in Rawalpindi, Noman contributed 45 runs with the bat and followed up with a match-winning six-wicket haul, helping Pakistan bowl England out for just 112 and securing a dominant nine-wicket victory.
He becomes the first Pakistani male cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month award since Babar Azam in August 2023.
